Will Companies File H1B This Year?

With less than a month to go, there are not many jobs out there and with New H1B Rules its difficult for big banks to hire H1B workers. So, if you are applying for H1B Visa for FY2010 in 2009, what is the probability to get a job in this economy? Some consulting firms are paying fines and salary for not paying employees in bench. So, those consulting companies are definitely not going to file H1B Visa applications this year. Which means the number of H1B petitions submitted will be less, so chances of getting visa approved is more, if there is lottery.

But, if there are no jobs available what is the use of just having H1B Visa? If companies applying for H1B to its employee currently working for them will have no issues, but what about consulting companies that are planning to apply? Will they apply at all? Post your comments to this article to discuss with other readers.

  1. Hi Pradeep,
Once u get H1 visa approved, then u can get-in into US and look for a job. If your consulting firm did not help u in getting a job after u land in US, then u can find one of ur own with the help of ur own contact or friends.
As per my research, there are plenty of jobs still available in various parts of US.

  3. Most of the consulting companies are not taking candidates and applying for H1. Many master's graduate student are continuing their internships even after their graduation as their companies are not sponsoring their H1 this year. There are definitely many jobs available, but they are only for people with 4-5 years of experience in the relevant fields. Because of so many layoffs and with so many experienced people unemployed, the companies are very picky in choosing the candidates. Many companies are finding people who already have H1, so they aren't interested in candidates who need H1 sponsorship.

I guess in this scenario, it will be quite some time before the capend date is reached.

  4. Yeah..what You said is right...It seems as though it would take lot more time for H1-b quota to fill up...but going by the stats of Master's quota, it pretty much obvious that next year, there would be lot of competition for the masters quota...Even with lot of restrictions , it got filled up this year....lets wait and c...Anyways..thanks for posting ur comment Supriya.
